12/2/22 –  North Country’s ARTS, “Glens Falls City School District Artist Educators” Exhibitiondisplay at their 2nd Floor Gallery at Glens Falls City Hall at 42 Ridge Street has been extended to Friday December 2nd  The 2nd Floor Gallery is open to the public Monday through Friday from 9am to 4pm.

12/3/22 – On Saturday December 3rd, the Church of the Holy Cross at 3764 Main Street in Warrensburg is holding a bazaar and quiche luncheon from 9am to 3pm.  Featuring a Cookie Walk, Candy walk, homemade baked goods and(pre-wrapped) holiday foods, crafts, vendors and Grandmother’s attic treasures. Free children’s activities include making candy with the Christmas elf and choosing a toy from Santa’s sack.  Pick up for pre-ordered fresh wreaths and kissing balls will also take place. 12/3/22 –   On Saturday December 3rd, the Argyle United Methodist Church at 12 Sheridan Street, will be offering free Christmas Shopping for Children, ages 5 to 12 from 12 noon to 3pm.  Children will be given an opportunity to shop for Mom and Dad. Gifts will be chosen by the children and wrapped by members of the church. Parents can enjoy free refreshments while the children shop.

12/7/22 –   On Thursday December 8th, a 4-H Adirondack Guide orientation program will be held at 7:15pm. Interested youths and their families are encouraged to attend this information session. The 4-H Adirondack Guide program is open to youth age 12 and older who have a specific interest in environmental and outdoor education.   Pre-registration is required by calling Cornell Co-operative Extension of Warren County at 518-668-4881.

12/12/22  On Monday December 12th, the Warren County Career Center is holding a job fair for northern Warren County businesses at the Warrensburg Fire Station at 18 Elm Street in Warrensburg, from 9am to 1pm.  Businesses located in Warrensburg, Chester, Johnsburg, Thurman, Horicon, Hague and Stony Creek will be on hand and are invited to be part of the event.  There will be spaces for up to 20 businesses.  If your business would like to participate, contact Liza Ochsendorf by email at ochsendorf l at warren county ny dot gov or call 518-824-8865 to get a registration form or to sign up.

12/16/22 – Are you fascinated by the weather, and want to help local emergency responders?  Warren and Washington counties have organized a free weather training session with National Weather Service personnel.  Warren County will host a session to train residents as SKYWARN weather spotters. SKYWARN volunteers help keep their local communities safe by providing timely and accurate reports of significant and impactful weather to the National Weather Service. 12/29/22 – Applications are now being accepted for the Cornell Cooperative Extension Master Gardener Volunteer Training Program.  The program starts in January of 2023 and will be held virtually. It’s open to anyone who has an interest in expanding their gardening experience and knowledge. It is a great way to learn even more by sharing information with fellow-Master Gardeners during the training, and following the training, by participating in community-based horticultural programs, educational projects, and helping people in the community with their gardening questions.  Deadline for all applications is Friday, December 30th. 1/23/23 –  Beginning Thursday January 23rd, join educators from Cornell Cooperative Extension for the, “Supporting Healthy Families” programfrom 6:00 to 7:30pm via Zoom.  This five-week program combines tried and true basic parenting tools with healthy lifestyle skills.  It is a unique opportunity for parents/caregivers to learn how to foster healthy relationships while learning both about discipline and nutrition.  The program is free of charge and open to Essex, Warren, and Washington County parents/caregivers. TFN – The Warren County Historical Society is seeking submissions for, “Warren County Voices” an historical memoirs writing project that will culminate in a book to be published early next year.  Those interested are asked to write about their recollections of growing up or living in Warren County.  Submissions must be emailed in a Word Document format to publications at wcnyhs dot org or exec dir at wcnyhs dot org by Dec 31st.  Submissions should be between one and five pages, and no more than ten.  Writing and editing support will be provided.

TFN –  The Chapman Museum is looking for submissions for the Upstate New York Covid-19 Pandemic Diary project. The Museum is seeking to build an archive to preserve our region’s experiences during the pandemic. They hope that people will share their written, lived experiences as a donation to the Museum’s archives. Written submissions can be detailed, specific, or completely anonymous. Individuals may also submit photographs or artwork. Submissions can be hand-written or typed and printed. You may either mail or hand deliver your diary entry to the Chapman Museum, 348 Glen Street, Glens Falls, New York, 12801. TFN –  THE CLOTHING DONATION SHED OF BOY SCOUT TROOP 56 IN HUDSON FALLS IS OPEN AND LOCATED AT THE FIRST PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH AT 9 RIVER STREET.  THE TROOP ACCEPTS DONATIONS OF CLEAN AND WELL CARED FOR PRE-OWNED CLOTHING.  ACCEPTED ITEMS ARE CLOTHING, SHOES, BELTS, PURSES, BLANKETS, SHEETS, CURTAINS, PILLOWCASES, AND STUFFED ANIMALS.  THE TROOP RECEIVES FUNDING FOR THE DONATIONS AND HAS THE OPTION TO USE DONATIONS TO SERVE THE COMMUNITY AS WELL.
