4/24/24 – Beginning Thursday April 25th and running for 4 consecutive Thursdays from 7 to 8pm, the Chapman Historical Museum in Glens Falls presents a four week photography course with Richard Timberlake. Richard will help guide you through the perils of good picture-taking. Learn about your camera, settings, image files, editing, and storage.  Space is limited and registration is required. Participants sign up to attend all four classes at the time of registration. Cost is $40.00 per person. Payment is required at the time of registration. 4/25/24 –  On Friday April 26th, the Slate Valley Museum in Granville will host its first, “Sip and Paint on Slate” event of the year from 7 to 9pm.  Painters will use a slate tile sourced directly from the Slate Valley as their canvas and create their own covered bridge scene with step-by-step guidance from art teacher Darcie Parrott.  Pre-registrationis required. Tickets are $40.00 per person and includes: materials, one beverage ticket, and a selection of snacks.  Space is limited. 4/26/24 –  On Saturday April 27th, the Chapman Historical Museum in Glens Falls presents a Jeopardy-style trivia game in which participants work in teams to try and answer trivia questions about Seneca Ray Stoddard, the DeLong Family, and local history.  Prizes will be awarded to the winning team.  The program takes place at 2pm, is free but requires a reservation and is limited to 16 participants. To register, call 518-793-2826.

4/26/24 –  On Saturday April 27th, Local Revolutionary War hero General Peter Gansevoort, who commanded Fort George at Lake George during 1776 will be the subject of the presentation, “Peter Gansevoort: A Hero and His Legacy”, at the Holiday Inn Resort in Lake George at 11:00am.  Featured speaker will be historian Michael P. Barrett, Vice President of the Board of Trustees for Albany Rural Cemetery, where General Gansevoort is buried. The program is sponsored by the Lake George Battlefield Park Alliance and is free to the public.  4/30/24 – Warren County Department of Workforce Development’s Summer Youth Employment Program is now accepting applications from Warren County youth between the ages of 14 and 20 who would like to work. The program provides work experience and training to qualified youth to help them develop skills they need to succeed in the workforce. There are family income guidelines to be met by applicants in order for them to qualify for the program.  The youth who are hired are assigned to work at a variety of worksites including non-profit organizations, private businesses and government worksites around Warren County for about 8 weeks starting in late June. Youth who are enrolled in the Summer Youth Employment Program will earn $15.00 per hour.  Worksites for 2024 are being finalized, but in recent years participants have been placed with town highway departments, parks and recreation departments, school districts, campgrounds, farms, and a variety of private businesses.  In addition to employment experience, participants are provided with employment counseling and educational materials to assist them with future efforts to obtain jobs. 5/3/24 – The Granville Lions Club will hold its annual summer furniture sale beginning Friday May 3rd.  The sale takes place at the Lions warehouses, located behind the post office on Main Street. 5/3/24 –   On Saturday May 4th, Warren County Public Health will be holding their first rabies clinic at the Queensbury Community Center from 10am to Noon. No appointment is necessary and you don’t have to be a Warren County resident to attend. Please have dogs on a leash and cats or ferrets in carrier. A $10.00 donation is requested for each pet but no one is turned away due to financial hardship. 5/8/24 – Registration is open for Warren County’s next household hazardous waste collection event, on Saturday, May 11th. Warren County residents who would like to get rid of hazardous materials such as cleaners, pesticides and other household chemicals, can do so at no charge at the Queensbury Highway Department, 742 Bay Road, Queensbury, from 8am to 12pm.  Residents who sign up will be able to safely dispose of materials such as antifreeze, pesticides, gasoline, latex paints, household cleaners and fluorescent light bulbs at no cost at this household hazardous waste drop off event.  Register online at warren county ny dot gov/residents/waste, by mail or in person at the Warren County DPW, 4028 Main Street, Warrensburg, New York, 12885, or by fax at 518-623-2772.  More information about household hazardous waste storage and disposal can be found at warren county ny dot gov/residents/waste-info. 5/10/24 –   On Saturday May 11th, the Warren County Commission for the 250th Anniversary of the American Revolution is proud to host a presentation by Alexander Cain: “Lexington and

5/11/24 – On Saturday May 11th, the Warren County Fish Hatchery at 145 Echo Lake Road in Warrensburg will hold its “Spring Zing” open house and fishing clinic from 9:30am to 2pm. It’s a day of fish-themed fun, with clinics, prizes, demonstrations, free food and other activities. Tours of the trout-rearing operation at the hatchery will be offered. 5/14/24 – Artists and artisans are invited to participate in a weekend of celebration of the talent in Washington County during the sixth annual, “Artisan Trails in Washington County” July 13th and 14th, from 10am to 4pm.  New this year, “hubs,” such as breweries, galleries, shops, etc. will host multiple artisans and artists at their location on the open studios tour, along with live demonstrations, plein aire painting and workshops.  Artists and artisans are invited to apply by May 15th; or for more information on becoming a Hub location, applications for both can found online at www dot artisan dash trails dot org.

5/31/24 – Tri-County Literacy Center will hold their art show fundraiser, “Celebrating the Art of Community” during the month of May in the Friends Gallery on the second floor of Crandall Public Library in Glens Falls.  All works have been created by local artists. The pieces encompass a wide range of styles, subjects, and media. TFN –  THE CLOTHING DONATION SHED OF BOY SCOUT TROOP 56 IN HUDSON FALLS IS OPEN AND LOCATED AT THE FIRST PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH AT 9 RIVER STREET.  THE TROOP ACCEPTS DONATIONS OF CLEAN AND WELL CARED FOR PRE-OWNED CLOTHING.  ACCEPTED ITEMS ARE CLOTHING, SHOES, BELTS, PURSES, BLANKETS, SHEETS, CURTAINS, PILLOWCASES, AND STUFFED ANIMALS.  THE TROOP RECEIVES FUNDING FOR THE DONATIONS AND HAS THE OPTION TO USE DONATIONS TO SERVE THE COMMUNITY AS WELL.
