5/21/22 –  On Sunday May 22nd, the World Awareness Children’s Museum will be holding their 32nd annual International Cuisine Dinner and Auction at the Six Flags Great Escape Lodge & Waterpark in Queensbury from 4:30 to 8pm. This is the museum’s biggest fundraiser of the year and offers those in attendance the opportunity to dine on a delicious selection of international food from some of the area’s finest restaurants.  Tickets are now on sale through Ticketleap. 6/2/22 – The Chapman Historical Museum of Glens Falls announces the return of

guided walking tours of downtown Glens Falls led by Maureen Folk. The tours will run every

Friday from June through August, except on August 5th. The tour will begin promptly at 11am

at the museum at 348 Glen Street.  The tour is approximately one mile in length and will take

 1 to 1 ½ hours to complete. A fee of $10.00 per person is required in advance.  Payment can

be made via phone or in person.  Tour dates include: June 3rd, 10th, 17th, 24th, July 1st,

 8th, 15th, 22nd, 29th; and August 12th, 19th, and 26th.  Reservations can be made by calling

6/7/22 –  On Tuesday June 7th, the Warren County Historical Society will be hosting an opening reception for their new exhibit, “General Joseph Warren – With Pen and Sword:  The Founding Father Whose Fiery Leadership Inspired Our Fight for Liberty from 4 to 7pm at their headquarters, 50 Gurney Lane, Queensbury.  The exhibit features the biography and historical significance of Joseph Warren, Revolutionary War hero, founding father, and physician who was killed at the Battle of Bunker Hill, and for whom Warren County is named. For more information call, 518–743-0734; online  wcnyhs dot org, or on Facebook

TFN – Warren County Board of Elections is working to fill open poll worker positions as the spring primary and the remainder of election season approach.  To be eligible in New York, you must be a New York State registered voter. If you are 17 years old, you may be eligible if your school district participates in a program under New York State Education Law Section. You will be assigned within the county where you live. Poll Workers get paid for training and each election day they work. Those who are interested in learning more about a poll worker position in Warren County, call Warren County Board of Elections at 518-761-6456, or stop by the office at the Warren County Human Services Building, 1340 Route 9, Queensbury.

TFN – Registration for the Alzheimer’s Association of Northeastern New York’s chapter, “Paint the Peaks Purple” challenge in the Adirondack Mountains is now open. The challenge is part of “The Longest Day,” a unique DIY fundraising event held annually on the day with the most light – the summer solstice. TFN – The Warren County Historical Society is seeking submissions for, “Warren County Voices” an historical memoirs writing project that will culminate in a book to be published early next year.  Those interested are asked to write about their recollections of growing up or living in Warren County.  Submissions must be emailed in a Word Document format to publications at wcnyhs dot org or exec dir at wcnyhs dot org by Dec 31st.  Submissions should be between one and five pages, and no more than ten.  Writing and editing support will be provided.

TFN –  The Chapman Museum is pleased to announce the launch of the Upstate New York Covid-19 Pandemic Diary project. The Museum is seeking to build an archive to preserve our region’s experiences during the pandemic. They hope that people will share their written, lived experiences as a donation to the Museum’s archives. Written submissions can be detailed, specific, or completely anonymous. Individuals may also submit photographs or artwork. Submissions can be hand-written or typed and printed. TFN –  THE CLOTHING DONATION SHED OF BOY SCOUT TROOP 56 IN HUDSON FALLS IS OPEN AND LOCATED AT THE FIRST PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH AT 9 RIVER STREET.  THE TROOP ACCEPTS DONATIONS OF CLEAN AND WELL CARED FOR PRE-OWNED CLOTHING.  ACCEPTED ITEMS ARE CLOTHING, SHOES, BELTS, PURSES, BLANKETS, SHEETS, CURTAINS, PILLOWCASES, AND STUFFED ANIMALS.  THE TROOP RECEIVES FUNDING FOR THE DONATIONS AND HAS THE OPTION TO USE DONATIONS TO SERVE THE COMMUNITY AS WELL.

TFN – The American Red Cross operates a virtual Family Assistance Center to provide comfort and support, information and referrals for New York State families that have lost loved ones to the COVID-19 Coronavirus. The virtual Family Assistance Center will link families to crisis counselors who will provide emotional and spiritual support, as well as information and referrals to help them navigate the challenging process they might be facing as a result of their loved one’s death.  A team of 30 specially trained Red Cross Disaster Mental Health, Disaster Spiritual Care, and Health Services volunteers will be available to support families with their emotional and spiritual needs, as well as provide information and referrals to state and local agencies as well as other community organizations to help families meet their immediate needs. This may include challenges with moving their loved one’s body through systems that may be overwhelmed and have different process than normal; legal resources for estate, custody, immigration, or other issues related to the death of their family member; information on how to obtain travel services; and more.
