8/11/22 –  The Farmer’s Market at the Canal Street Marketplace is open Thursdays from 4 to 7 pm at 63 Canal Street in Fort Edward featuring honey, maple syrup, meats, home grown veggies, breads and pies, and handmade crafts. Bring the kids for activities sponsored by Fort Edward’s library.  On Thursday August 11th, Jackie the Magician brings her award winning show to the Marketplace from 5:30 to 6:45pm.  Kids will love her magic, ventriloquism and balloon animals! 

8/11/22 –   On Saturday  August 13th, the Warren County Department of Public Works’ next FREE household hazardous waste collection event has been scheduled from 9am to 1pm at Queensbury Highway Department at 742 Bay Road.  Registration is open for Warren County residents who will be able to safely dispose of materials such as antifreeze, pesticides, paints, household cleaners and fluorescent light bulbs at no cost. The Warren County event collection staff cannot accept the following munitions, automotive oil, batteries, asbestos, pharmaceuticals, infectious waste or tires.  Registration is required. 8/12/22 – Through August 13th, North Country Arts in their main gallery inside The Shirt Factory building in Suite 120 at 71 Lawrence Street in Glens Falls presents their “Translation Exhibition.” This exciting presentation features a solo artist section from the work of artist Pamela Stendardi. The gallery is free and open to the public Thursday through Saturday from Noon to 5pm.

8/12/22 – On Saturday  August 27th, the 13th Annual Cornell Cooperative Extension Golf Tournament and Silent Auction will take place at Cronin’s Golf Resort in Warrensburg, NY.  Sign up early and save. Prepay by Friday August 12th and the cost is $95.00 per person. The cost per person on the day of the event is $100.00. Fee includes green fees, cart, barbecue, goodie bag, awards, and prizes. 8/12/22 –  The Little Theater on the Farm at 27 Plum Road in Fort Edward will hold its Huge Summer Barn Sale August 11th, 12th, and 13th.  Times of the sale are Thursday the 11th from 4pm to 8pm; and Friday the 12th and Saturday the 13th from 8am to 4pm.  There will be a bag sale after 2pm Friday and all day Saturday along with surprise gong sales Saturday. 8/16/22 –  ON TUESDAY AUGUST 16TH, THE CHAPMAN MUSEUM IN GLENS FALLS WILL HOLD ITS NEXT SUMMER STORY TIME WITH A READING OF, “ADA’S VILION” BY SUSAN HOOD.  THE PROGRAM IS RECOMMENDED FOR CHILDREN AGES 5 TO 9 AND IS FREE AND DOES NOT REQUIRE A RESERVATION.

8/17/22 –  On Wednesday August 17th, the Friends of the Crandall Public Library will hold another, “Books on Carts in the Park” book sale in City Park next to the library from 2 to 6pm weather permitting.  Adult books are $1.00.  Kids and teen books 25 cents.  If you plan on attending remember to bring your own bags.

8/17/22 –   On Wednesday August 17th, the Chapman Museum in Glens Falls will host ,”If These Streets Could Talk” at 7pm in the Queensbury Room at Queensbury High School on Aviation Road. This panel discussion will feature John Strough, Cathy Dede, Lee Braggs, and Elizabeth Little Hogan as they talk about the greater Glens Falls-Queensbury region and how it has changed over the years. 8/23/22 – On Tuesday August 23rd, the Saratoga National Historical Park in Stillwater will host the second of its two editions of, “Music at the Battlefield,” at Noon featuring “the Fifes and Drums of Fort Ticonderoga” who will portray Continental Army corps drummers and fifers. 8/31/22 – The Lake George Battlefield Park Visitor Center, offers a glimpse into the site’s and the community’s storied past during the French and Indian War and the American Revolution;  and is open to the public from 10am to 4:00pm Friday through Tuesday throughout  August. Guided walking tours of Battlefield Park history take place on Saturday beginning at 11:00am. The 1 hour walk will point out significant areas such as the Fort George ruins and the burial site of four unknown provincial soldiers killed during the Battle of Lake George in 1755, along with the stories behind them.  Admission to the Visitor Center and participation in the guided tours are free.

9/3/22 –  ON SATURDAY SEPTEMBER 3RD, THE FIFTH ANNUAL BREAST CANCER AWARENESS BENEFIT WILL TAKE PLACE AT THE FRONTIER TOWN GATEWAY LOCATED OFF EXIT 29 OF THE NORTHWAY IN NORTH HUDSON.  ACTIVITIES INCLUDE A CAR AND MOTORCYCLE SHOW, AUCTIONS AND THINGS FOR THE KIDS TO DO.  PROCEEDS WILL BENEFIT THE SARATOGA HOSPITAL RADIATION AND ONCOLOGY CENTER.

9/16/22 –   Through September 17th, in honor of The Hyde Collection’s sixtieth anniversary in 2023 of its opening as a fine arts museum, its pleased to announce the exhibition,  “Songs of the Horizon: David Smith, music, and dance.”  The exhibition will feature approximately twenty-five loans from important private and public collections, the Estate of David Smith, and a selection of rare archival materials.  Museum hours are Thursday through Sunday from 10am to 5pm.  For more information, go online at www dot hyde collection dot org.

9/17/22 – North Country ARTS is excited to announce their new exhibition, “Beauty in the World” Oil Paintings by Marta Baxter, through September 19th at their 2nd Floor Gallery at Glens Falls City Hall at 42 Ridge Street.  The program is free and open to the public and the gallery is open Mondays through Fridays from 9am to 4pm.

10/15/22 – The Chapman Historical Museum at 348 Glen Street in Glens Falls is proud to unveil an exhibition of 17 newly acquired rare photographs by Seneca Ray Stoddard.  “Recent Acquisitions” runs through October 16th in the Stoddard Gallery, which has been recently updated.  A film about Stoddard will be displayed on a newly installed large screen. Stoddard is best known as a photographer, but was also a cartographer, writer, poet, artist, traveler and lecturer. He was among the first adventurous artists who depicted the Adirondacks, sharing his photography in the post-Civil War era.  For more information, visit www dot chapman museum dot org.

TFN – The Warren County Historical Society is seeking submissions for, “Warren County Voices” an historical memoirs writing project that will culminate in a book to be published early next year.  Those interested are asked to write about their recollections of growing up or living in Warren County.  Submissions must be emailed in a Word Document format to publications at wcnyhs dot org or exec dir at wcnyhs dot org by Dec 31st.  Submissions should be between one and five pages, and no more than ten.  Writing and editing support will be provided.

TFN –  The Chapman Museum is looking for submissions for the Upstate New York Covid-19 Pandemic Diary project. The Museum is seeking to build an archive to preserve our region’s experiences during the pandemic. They hope that people will share their written, lived experiences as a donation to the Museum’s archives. Written submissions can be detailed, specific, or completely anonymous. Individuals may also submit photographs or artwork. Submissions can be hand-written or typed and printed. TFN –  THE CLOTHING DONATION SHED OF BOY SCOUT TROOP 56 IN HUDSON FALLS IS OPEN AND LOCATED AT THE FIRST PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH AT 9 RIVER STREET.  THE TROOP ACCEPTS DONATIONS OF CLEAN AND WELL CARED FOR PRE-OWNED CLOTHING.  ACCEPTED ITEMS ARE CLOTHING, SHOES, BELTS, PURSES, BLANKETS, SHEETS, CURTAINS, PILLOWCASES, AND STUFFED ANIMALS.  THE TROOP RECEIVES FUNDING FOR THE DONATIONS AND HAS THE OPTION TO USE DONATIONS TO SERVE THE COMMUNITY AS WELL.
