9/26/24 – In celebration of their 40th year, Hometown Thanksgiving is inviting the public to contribute towards their upcoming fundraising project. They will be creating a community cookbook and would love for you to share your special recipes and they do not need to be Thanksgiving themed, but will be certainly welcome. Send in your favorite recipe: drinks, appetizers, breads, side dishes, soups, casseroles, main dishes, desserts, candies and dips by Friday September 27th in order to guarantee it being printed. 9/27/24 – On Saturday September 28th, the Chapman Museum in Glens Falls will hold its Cemetery Tour at Pine View Cemetery at 21 Quaker Road, Queensbury. Tours begin at 10am and continue until 1pm with departures scheduled every 30 minutes. The duration of each tour is between 1 to 1 ½ hours. For the 11am and 12:30pm tours, golf carts will be available, each accommodating up to 12 participants. Cost of the tour is $20.00 per person and $15.00 for Chapman members. 9/27/24 The Moreau and South Glens Falls Historical Society, located at the Parks-Bentley Place at 53 Ferry Boulevard has events scheduled for the summer and early fall. Through September 28th, it’s “Tea Pots and Cookie Jars” a special exhibition of vintage tea sets and cookie jars on loan from various area residents. Hours are Saturdays from Noon to 4pm. 10/13/24 – Through Monday October 14th, the Lake George Battlefield Park Visitor Center located on the bottom floor of 75 Fort George Road in Lake George, will be open Friday through Sunday plus Monday October 14th from 10am to 4pm. TFN – THE CLOTHING DONATION SHED OF BOY SCOUT TROOP 56 IN HUDSON FALLS IS OPEN AND LOCATED AT THE FIRST PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH AT 9 RIVER STREET. THE TROOP ACCEPTS DONATIONS OF CLEAN AND WELL CARED FOR PRE-OWNED CLOTHING. ACCEPTED ITEMS ARE CLOTHING, SHOES, BELTS, PURSES, BLANKETS, SHEETS, CURTAINS, PILLOWCASES, AND STUFFED ANIMALS. THE TROOP RECEIVES FUNDING FOR THE DONATIONS AND HAS THE OPTION TO USE DONATIONS TO SERVE THE COMMUNITY AS WELL.
TFN – Cornell Cooperative Extension of Warren County offers a free, confidential Family Budget Coaching Program to community residents. The one-on-one sessions are available to individuals and families who want to improve their financial literacy, set goals, create a savings plan, reduce debt and get a better handle on their finances. The trained coaches will offer sessions either via zoom or in person in Glens Falls, Warrensburg and Johnsburg.
