5/22/21 –  High Peaks Hospice is holding a virtual 5-K walk-a-thon fundraiser.   Their goal is to sign up 250 individuals.  To help meet their goal, the only thing you have to do is register as an individual or as a team.  5k is the recommended distance but you can walk any day, any distance and any where by Sunday May 23rd.  Registration is $30.00 per person and all proceeds go directly to High Peaks Hospice. 5/31/21 –  Beginning Tuesday June 1st, Cornell Cooperative Extension of Warren County  will be offering “PS:  It Works! Parenting Program” for five consecutive Tuesdays from Noon to 1pm. The program is designed for parents/caregivers of children whose ages are from toddler to teen.  Learn tried and true basic parenting skills in this interactive program.  The program will explore five skills that you can implement in your role as parent/caregiver. 8/13/21 – On Saturday August 28th, Cornell Co-operative Extension of Warren County will hold their 12th Annual Golf Tournament and Silent Auction at Cronin’s Golf Resort in Warrensburg, Proceeds from this event will be used to help financially support Cornell Cooperative Extension’s educational programs. Sign up early and save. Prepay by Friday August 13th, and the cost is only $95.00 per person. Cost per person on the day of the event is $100.00. 9/29/20 – The Chapman Historical Museum at 348 Glen Street in Glens Falls presents, exhibit, “Now & Then, Photos of Glens Falls and Queensbury.”  The exhibit, organized by researchers Robert Bayle and Andrea Matte, tells the stories of “what came before” and will run through September. Museum hours are Tuesday through Saturday from 10 am to 4 pm.  Due to Covid-19 restrictions, occupancy is limited.  Call (518) 793-2826 to reserve a time. TFN –  THE CLOTHING DONATION SHED OF BOY SCOUT TROOP 56 IN HUDSON FALLS IS OPEN AND LOCATED AT THE FIRST PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH AT 9 RIVER STREET.  THE TROOP ACCEPTS DONATIONS OF CLEAN AND WELL CARED FOR PRE-OWNED CLOTHING.  ACCEPTED ITEMS ARE CLOTHING, SHOES, BELTS, PURSES, BLANKETS, SHEETS, CURTAINS, PILLOWCASES, AND STUFFED ANIMALS.  THE TROOP RECEIVES FUNDING FOR THE DONATIONS AND HAS THE OPTION TO USE DONATIONS TO SERVE THE COMMUNITY AS WELL.

TFN – A new edition of, “Alarm from Box 33: A History of the Glens Falls Fire Department.” has been published and is available for purchase at the Chapman Museum in Glens Falls. The soft-cover book includes the entirety of the original volume published in 2003 on the 100th anniversary of the Glens Falls Fire Department, along with a new full-color section that covers the years 2003-2018. This new addendum features stories on major fires during that time period, new equipment and developments in the department, and new appointees to the GFFD.  Published by the Glens Falls Firefighting Heritage Association, the new edition is available for $23.95 through the Chapman Museum, 348 Glen Street in Glens Falls.   The book may be purchased online at www dot chapman museum dot org or by calling the museum at 518-793-2826.  Buyers can arrange for either shipping or local pick-up at the door. TFN – The American Red Cross operates a virtual Family Assistance Center to provide comfort and support, information and referrals for New York State families that have lost loved ones to the COVID-19 Coronavirus. The virtual Family Assistance Center will link families to crisis counselors who will provide emotional and spiritual support, as well as information and referrals to help them navigate the challenging process they might be facing as a result of their loved one’s death.  A team of 30 specially trained Red Cross Disaster Mental Health, Disaster Spiritual Care, and Health Services volunteers will be available to support families with their emotional and spiritual needs, as well as provide information and referrals to state and local agencies as well as other community organizations to help families meet their immediate needs. This may include challenges with moving their loved one’s body through systems that may be overwhelmed and have different process than normal; legal resources for estate, custody, immigration, or other issues related to the death of their family member; information on how to obtain travel services; and more.
