10/7/23 – On Saturday October 7th, the Thurman Fall Farm Tour takes place from 10am to 4pm. Self-guided tours of Thurman’s finest farms will be available, where you’ll find both old and new, non-GMO heritage pigs, grass-fed beef, fall vegetables, all-natural poultry and eggs, internationally awarded cheeses and ice cream, quilt show, jams and jellies, maple products, and a craft and artisans’ market. Learn about organic farming methods, bee-keeping, foraging for mushrooms, edible wild plants and herbs. Also check out the Revolution Rail operation at the train station. 10/7/23 – On Saturday October 7th, the Village Baptist Church at 131 Broadway, Fort Edward, will hold a takeout only Roast Pork dinner from 3:30 to 5:30pm. Menu consists of: roast pork, dressing, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans, cole slaw, applesauce, finger rolls, and apple cake for dessert. Cost is Adults $13.00; and children 5 years and under and Seniors over 90 are free. 10/7/23 – The Hudson River Shakespeare Company presents, “MURDER ME DEADLY”an original play in the film noir style, on Friday and Saturday evenings, October 6TH and 7TH, at 8 pm and Saturday and Sunday matinees, October 7TH and 8TH, at 2pm at the Strand Theater in Hudson Falls. 10/8/23 – On Sunday October 8th, the public is invited as the Lake George Battlefield Park Alliance and the Washington County Historical Society unveil a new historical marker at the Battlefield Park beginning at 1:00pm, commemorating the final destruction of Fort George in 1780 by British forces under Major Christopher Carleton. The marker will be placed, across from the Battlefield Park Visitor Center, at 75 Fort George Road in Lake George.

10/13/23 – On Saturday, October 14th, the Alzheimer’s Association, Northeastern New York Chapter is holding its 2023 Walk to End Alzheimer’s at SUNY Adirondack on Bay Road in Queensbury. Participants may check-in beginning at 9am, with an opening ceremony set for 10am. The walk will begin immediately following the opening ceremony. 10/14/23 – On Saturday October 14th, Warren County Public Health will be holding a rabies clinic at the Queensbury Community Center 742 Bay Road. from 10am to Noon. No appointment is necessary and you don’t have to be a Warren County Resident to attend. Please have dogs on a leash and cats or ferrets in carrier. A $10.00 donation is requested for each pet but no one is turned away due to financial hardship. 10/21/23 – To commemorate Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Warren County Health Services has scheduled five educational events around the county during the month of October to provide residents with information and access to resources to enhance community response to breast cancer. The Health Services events will be held on the following days at these locations: Thursday, October 5th – Tops Market, Route 9 in Chestertown from 1 to 4pm. Thursday, October 12th – Walmart, Route 9, in Queensbury from Noon to 4pm. Thursday, October 19th – Grand Union, Main Street in Warrensburg from 1 to 4pm. Saturday, October 21st at the Silver Bay YMCA, Route 9N in Hague from 9:30 to 11am; and Sunday, October 22nd at City Park in Glens Falls from 8:30 to 11:45am (Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk). 10/21/23 – On Saturday October 21st, the Hudson Falls United Methodist Church at 227 Main Street will hold a Autumn Craft Fair from 10am to 3pm.
10/27/23 – Through October 29th, the Lake George Battlefield Park Visitors Center at 75 Fort George Road on the lower level of the Lake George Park Commission’s headquarters will be open Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays from 10am to 4pm. The Visitors Center also conducts 1-hour guided tours of the parks’ history on Saturdays at 11am. The tours start from the Visitors Center. Pre-registration is requested. 10/27/23 – Through October 29th, the Ulysses S. Grant Cottage State Historic Site in Wilton is open Wednesday through Sunday from 9:30am to 4pm. Cottage Tours are available every half hour starting at 10am. Hidden History Hiking Tours take place on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays at 10:30am with an $15.00 admission fee. Living History Tours take place Wednesdays, and Fridays at 3:30pm with an $18.00 admission fee. There are self-guided audio grounds tour with the voices of Grant’s contemporaries. THE TROOP ACCEPTS DONATIONS OF CLEAN AND WELL CARED FOR PRE-OWNED CLOTHING. ACCEPTED ITEMS ARE CLOTHING, SHOES, BELTS, PURSES, BLANKETS, SHEETS, CURTAINS, PILLOWCASES, AND STUFFED ANIMALS. THE TROOP RECEIVES FUNDING FOR THE DONATIONS AND HAS THE OPTION TO USE DONATIONS TO SERVE THE COMMUNITY AS WELL.
TFN – Cornell Cooperative Extension of Warren County offers a free, confidential Family Budget Coaching Program to community residents. The one-on-one sessions are available to individuals and families who want to improve their financial literacy, set goals, create a savings plan, reduce debt and get a better handle on their finances.
