12/29/24 – On Sunday, December 29th, Upstate Model Railroaders will be holding an open house from Noon to 3pm.  Layouts will be running. Members will be on hand to answer questions, and there will be a Freight Yard sale with engines, rolling stock, and much more. Upstate Model Railroaders is located in the Epic Ventures building at door 27 22 Hudson Falls Road in South Glens Falls.

12/30/24 –  The Warren County Career Center and their Capital Region Career Centers partners have scheduled a series of free online career skills workshops in December.  The  workshops focus on use of social media effectively for career goals; resume development; overcoming barriers to employment; networking and completing job applications, and several other topics. 1/4/25 – On Saturday January 4th, the Chapman Museum in Glens Falls will hold its second annual Scavenger Hunt from 2 to 3pm.  Participants will have one hour to explore the Museum and galleries, looking for the items on the list. Prizes will be given to those who find all the items.  The program is open to all ages. There will be a children’s version of the scavenger hunt, as well as a teen/adult version.  Parental participation is encouraged, and supervision is required for participants under the age of 18. This program is free and does not require registration.

1/15/25 – On Wednesday January 15th, the Chapman Museum in Glens Falls presents, “Conversations with the Past, Lake George Battlefield Park History and Future” at 7pm. Speakers will be John DiNuzzo, President of the Lake George Battlefield Park Alliance, and Margy Mannix, Lake George Town Historian and Trustee of the Lake George Battlefield Park Alliance.   They will talk about the incredible history of the 35-acre State Park, focusing on key activities that occurred on its grounds during the French & Indian War and the American Revolution. They will also share a look at the planned 2026 reinterment in the park of 44 Continental soldiers and others who perished at Lake George in 1776.   The program is free but requires a reservation. To register, please call (518)793-2826.

TFN – FOOD FOR THOUGHT IS AN INITIATIVE THAT GETS FOOD TO THOSE WHO NEED IT IN OUR LOCAL SCHOOL DISTRICTS IN WARREN AND WASHINGTON COUNTIES.  THE CURRENT NEED IS APPROXIMATELY 11 THOUSAND SNACKS PER MONTH IN 14 LOCAL DISTRICTS.  DONATIONS OF SNACKS CAN BE MADE AT HILLTOP CONSTRUCTION 21 CASEY ROAD IN QUEENSBURY OR O’BRIEN INSURANCE ON BAY STREET IN GLENS FALLS.  SNACK DONATIONS IDEAS ARE BAGS OF PRETZELS AND GOLD FISH, GRANOLA BARS, AND APPLE SAUCE POUCHES.  MONETARY DONATIONS MADE PAYABLE TO O’BRIEN’S ANGELS ARE ALSO ACCEPTED.

TFN –  THE CLOTHING DONATION SHED OF BOY SCOUT TROOP 56 IN HUDSON FALLS IS OPEN AND LOCATED AT THE FIRST PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH AT 9 RIVER STREET.  THE TROOP ACCEPTS DONATIONS OF CLEAN AND WELL CARED FOR PRE-OWNED CLOTHING.  ACCEPTED ITEMS ARE CLOTHING, SHOES, BELTS, PURSES, BLANKETS, SHEETS, CURTAINS, PILLOWCASES, AND STUFFED ANIMALS.  THE TROOP RECEIVES FUNDING FOR THE DONATIONS AND HAS THE OPTION TO USE DONATIONS TO SERVE THE COMMUNITY AS WELL.
